Umberto riva was born in Milan in 1928. He studied architecture in Venice where Carlo Scarpa is his master and then graduated in 1959. In 1960 he began his professional life on different levels: from interior to landscape, from building to urban spaces, from buildings To industrial design. In Palermo (1982-1983) Venice (1987-1998) Milan (1992-1993) at the European Institute of Design in Milan (1997-1998) and at the Edge of Architecture in Nancy conducted his didactic activity and in 1999 He became Academician of San Luca. He was awarded the Gold Medal for the Italian Architecture in 2003.
